Prawns Curry




Ingredients

  • Prawns -200 gm (deshelled and deveined)
  • Onion - 1/2 (finely chopped)
  • Tomato  puree  - 2  tbsp
  • Green chilly  -  1
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder- 1 tsp
  • Cumin Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder- 1/4 tsp
  • Paaprika/Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
  • Coconut milk -1/4 cup
  • Cumin -1/4 tsp
  • Coriander leaves - for garnishing
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sugar - 1 pinch
  • Oil - 1 tbsp 
  • Butter - 1 tsp
  • Water -1/2  - 3/4 cup



To Marinate

  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon juice - 1tsp



Method

  1. Marinate the prawns with turmeric,chilli,pepper powder, salt and lemon juice and keep aside for 30 mins.
  2. In a pan add  oil and shallow fry the prawns.Drain and keep aside.
  3. In the same pan melt butter. Add jeera, ginger garlic paste  and saute  for few minutes.
  4. Add chopped onions and saute till light brown.
  5. Add  turmeric, chilli, coriander, cumin, garam masala powders and saute till raw smell disappears.
  6. Add tomato puree,salt, sugar and saute till oil oozes out from gravy.
  7. Now add prawns and mix well till masala is coated. 
  8. Add 1 cup water .Cover and cook till gravy thickens.
  9. Reduce flame and add coconut milk.
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  11. Taste best with chapathi, naan, roti.
