Vellarikka Manga Muringakka (Cucumber Mango Drumstick) Ozhichu curry




Ingredients

  • Cucumber cut into cubes - 1/4 cup
  • Raw mango - 4 cubes
  • Drumstick - 4 nos (21/2 inch pieces)
  • Green chilli - 2
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Curry Leaves - few
  • Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Water - 1/2 cup

To Grind (To smooth paste)

  • Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Shallot -2 nos
  • Red chilli - 1
  • Jeera (Cumin) -1 pinch
  • Water - as needed (2 tbsp)
To Temper
--------------
  • Oil- 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek Seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilli - 1
  • Curry Leaves - 1 spring

Method
----------

  1. Cook the cucumber and drumstick with salt, green chilli ,turmeric and chilli powder and water.
  2. When it is half done add raw mango pieces and cook for 5 more mins
  3. When they are done add the grounded coconut mixture and mix well and switch off .
  4. In a kadai, add oil .Splutter the ingredients given in "To Temper" and pour over the curry.
