Vellarikka Moru Curry





Ingredients

  • Vellarikka/Dosekai - 1/2 cup (cubed)
  • Green Chilli - 3
  • Butter milk /Curd - 1 cup
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Chilli Powder - 1 pinch
  • Fenugreek powder -1/8 tsp
  • Salt - To Taste
  • Water - 1/2 - 3/4 cup
To grind to paste

  • Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Jeera/cumin - 1 pinch

To splutter

  • Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds -1/4 tsp
  • Dried Red chilli -1
  • Curry leaves
  • Fenugreek powder -1 pinch
  • Chilli Powder -1 pinch












Method
------------
  1. Grind coconut and cumin to a fine paste.
  2. In a pan cook vellarikka (dosekai) with salt, green chilli, turmeric and chilli powder adding enough water.
  3. When it is done add grinded coconut paste and mix well.
  4. When it is almost boiled , reduce flame to low and add beaten curd and mix well.
  5. Immediately remove from fire.
  6. In another heated pan add oil. Add ingredients given in the section "To splutter".
  7. Pour over the curry.
