Kaya Chena Kunjulli Thoran (Raw Plantain Yam Pearl Onion Stir Fry)






Ingredients

  • Raw plantain -1 cup (cubed) 
  • Yam/Suran - 1/2 cup (cubed) 
  • Pearl onion -1/4 cup (sliced)
  • Curry Leaves
  • Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
  • Red Chilli Flakes - 1 tsp
  • Tamarind pulp - 1 tsp
  • Oil- 1 tsp
  • Salt - To taste
  • Water


To Grind (Coarse)

  • Coconut - 1/4 cup
  • Chilli Flakes -1/4 tsp
  • Shallot -2 nos
  • Jeera (Cumin) -1 pinch
  • Mustard Seed - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - 1 pinch



Method
------------
  1.  Soak the raw plantain and yam  in water for 10 minutes.
  2. Cook with salt, turmeric powder, green chilli adding enough water.
  3. When it is completely cooked add tamarind paste and mix well.
  4. In a pan add oil. Splutter mustard seeds and add  chopped shallots, red chilli  flakes and curry leaves and saute till brown.
  5. Add cooked raw plantain and yam and saute well.
  6. Add coconut ground mixture and give a stir.
  7. Add 1 tsp coconut oil and curry leaves at top.
  8. Serve hot with rice.
