Chemmen Manga Muringakka Curry (Prawns Raw Mango Drumstick Curry)





Ingredients

  1. Prawns -1 cup
  2. Ginger 1- inch piece(thinly sliced)
  3. Green Chilli -5
  4. Raw Mango  - 1/4 cup (sliced)
  5. Drumstick - 1 ( cut to 3 inch long pieces)
  6. Curry Leaves
  7. Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
  8. Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
  9. Water - 11/2 cup
  10. Coconut Oil -  3 tbsp
  11. Salt - To Taste
To grind to fine paste

  1. Coconut - 1/4 cup
  2. Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  3. Chilli Powder - 11/2 tsp
  4. Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
  5. Red chilli -1
  6. Pearl Onion -1
  7. Water - 1/cup
  8. Salt - To taste



Method

  1. Clean and devein prawns.
  2. Grind ingredients  given in " To Grind"to a fine paste.
  3. Heat a pan preferably an earthened pot (manchatti)  and add  coconut oil.
  4. Saute pearl onion, ginger, green chilli and curry leaves for 2 mins.
  5. Add cleaned prawns, drumsticks along with salt, chilli and turmeric powder and water.
  6. Cover and cook till prawns are almost  done.
  7. Add raw mango pieces and mix well.
  8. Add grounded coconut mixture and cover and cook  till raw mango is cooked and the gravy thickens.
  9. Add 1 tsp coconut oil and curry leaves at top.
  10. Serve hot with rice, chapathi etc.
