Rava Upma





Ingredients

  • Rava/Semolina -1 cup
  • Water- 1 cup
  • Coconut grated- 1/4 cup
  • Green chilli- 2 (chopped)
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece(chopped)
  • Salt - To taste
  • Oil/ butter - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds- 1 tsp
  • Curry Leaves  - few



Method

  1. In a heated pan dry roast rava for 1 min and keep aside in a plate.(take care not to burn rava).
  2. Heat a kadai. Add 1 tsp oil and splutter mustard seeds.
  3. Add chopped ginger, green chilli and curry leaves and saute for 1 min.It should not be brown.
  4. Add water and required quantity of salt .Cover with lid and allow the water to boil.
  5. Now  open the lid and add roasted rava slowly continuously stirring with the other hand.
  6. Reduce the flame and keep in sim for few mins until the rava is cooked completely.
  7. Add grated coconut and mix well.
  8. Serve hot with pazham, pappadam and payar thoran.
