Chocochip Marble Cake






Ingredients

  • All purpose flour - 11/4 cup
  • Baking powder-1/2 tsp
  • Eggs -2  (at room temperature)
  • Vanilla essence -1/2 tsp
  • Sugar- 3/4 cup
  • Milk- 1/4 cup
  • Butter - 1 stick (110 gm) (at room temperature)
  • Semi sweet chocochips - 3/4 cup
  • Chocolate Syrup - 3 tbsp
  • Salt- 1/2 tsp

Method

  1. Preheat an oven at 350F (180C). 
  2. Sieve together flour, salt, baking powder. (dry ingredients)
  3. Beat 2 eggs in a large bowl with 1/2 tsp vanilla essence til ribbon stage.
  4. In another bowl beat butter and sugar well.
  5. Add sieved dry ingredients and beaten egg alternatively to the sugar butter mixture and gently fold in.
  6. Add 1/4 cup milk  if the batter becomes too thick.
  7. Add semisweet chocochip and mix gently.
  8. Divide the batter into two sections and add chocolate syrup in one portion and mix well.
  9. Pour the  two batter on a lightly greased dusted baking pan.
  10. Make swirls with a spatula so that two batters mix gently creating a marble  appearance.
  11. Garnish with slightly dusted chocochips at top.
  12. Bake for 22-25 mins until a toothpick inserted at the center comes out clean.
  13. Cut , serve and enjoy.




Notes

  1. The baking time depends on oven and can be changed slightly.
  2. The eggs and butter should be at room temperature.
  3. Cool the cake well before slicing.
  4. Lightly dusting the choco chips with the flour prevents them from sinking down.
