Black Bean Burger
Black beans are excellent sources of fiber, proteins and antioxidants and is a healthy addition to both vegetarians and non vegetarians. Try this quick, simple easy recipe and enjoy it as your breakfast or meal.
Ingredients

- Burger Buns - 4
- Canned Black Bean (cooked) - 1 (14 oz)
- Yellow Onion - 1/2 (finely chopped)
- Red Bell Pepper (finely chopped) - 2 tbsp
- Yellow Bell Pepper (finely chopped) - 1 tbsp
- Freshly Chopped Parsley - 1 tbsp
- Freshly Chopped Cilantro - 1 tbsp
- Garlic (finely chopped)- 1 tbsp
- Oregano - 1 tsp
- Red Chilli Flakes - 1 tsp
- Paprika - 1 tbsp
- Lemon Pepper Seasoning - 1 tsp
- Freshly Ground Pepper - 1 tsp
- Salt - to Taste
- Bread Crumbs - 1/4 cup
- Egg while - 1 (optional)
- Olive Oil - 1 tbsp
For Topping (optional)

- Roman Lettuce Leaves
- Tomato
- Onion
- Cucumber
- Pickled Jalapenos
- Ketchup
Method

- Drain the black beans and transfer to a wide mouthed bowl. Mash it well using a fork.(or you can use a chopper, but take care when you use it as it should not be too mushy).
- Add ingredients numbered 3 to 16 and mix well.
- Add bread crumbs and egg white and mix.
- Take one handful portion of the mixture and flatten gently with your palm so as to make round burgers.For easy handling you can place it in a clear plastic wrap , cover and gently press it so that it wont stick too much to your hands and you will get good round shapes.
- Keep it in freezer for at least 20 minutes to hold its shape.
- In a heated pan add olive oil.
- Add the burgers and cook for about 6- 8 min on medium flame flipping each sides till both sides are brown.
- Transfer to a plate.
- Place a burger on to of the half sliced burger bun.
- Top with the veggies and ketchup of your choice.(I used lettuce, tomato, onion , cucumber, jalapenos)
- Cover with the other slice.
Notes
---------
- Egg white is added for easy binding. It is an optional step. You can skip this step if needed.
- You can make the burgers in bulk . Cover each one in a cling wrap and place them in an airtight box/Ziploc and store in freezer. Take out the required numbers, thaw and use when needed.
- Alterations in the mix can be made according to ones taste.
