Fish Masala
Ingredients

- Fish- 250 gm (Thick Fleshed Fish)
- Onion - 2 medium (finely chopped)
- Ginger - 1 inch piece(finely chopped)
- Garlic - 4 cloves(finely chopped)
- Green Chilli - 4 (finely chopped)
- Tomato Puree - 1/4 cup
- Tamarind - 1 small gooseberry size
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Red Chilli powder - 2 1/2 tbsp
- Coriander powder - 2 tbsp
- Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Curry Leaves
- Coriander Leaves
- Salt - to taste
- Water - 1 cup
- Oil

- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
- Coriander powder- 1 tsp
- Ginger garlic paste -1/2 tsp
- Salt -to taste
- Lemon juice - 1 tsp

- Clean and cut fish to medium sized pieces.
- Marinate the fish with the ingredients given above and keep aside for at-least 20 minutes.
- Soak tamarind in 1/4 cup water and mix well. Drain and keep the juice reserved.
- In a pan add oil and lightly fry the fish. It need not be fully cooked. When both sides are lightly brown drain and keep aside.
- In the same oil add chopped ginger , garlic and curry leaves.
- Saute till a nice aroma comes.
- Add finely chopped onions and saute till light brown.
- Add all curry powders and mix well.
- Add tomato puree, tamarind juice and salt and mix well.
- Cover and cook for 5 mins.
- Add fried fish pieces and gently mix. Take care not to break the fish pieces.
- Add water. Close the lid and cook till the gravy thickens.
- Add freshly chopped coriander and curry leaves and mix well.
- Serve with any rice, pulav, roti, appam etc.
