Padvalanga Parippu (Snake gourd Dal )Thoran



Ingredients

  • Snake gourd(cut into small cubes)- 11/2 cup
  • Green chilli -1
  • Curry Leaves
  • Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
  • Red Chilli  - 1
  • Oil- 1 tbsp
  • Salt - To taste
  • Cooked Chana Dal  - 1/4 cup
  • Water- 1/4 cup



To Grind (Coarse)

  • Coconut - 1/4 cup
  • Pearl Onion-2 nos
  • Jeera (Cumin) -1 pinch
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - 1 pinch

Method
------------
  1. Cook the cubed Snake gourd with salt, green chilli and turmeric powder adding little water.
  2. In a pan add oil. Splutter mustard seeds,red chilli and curry leaves.
  3. Add cooked  Snake gourd and dal and mix well.
  4. Add grounded coconut mixture and saute for 2 mins
  5. Serve hot with rice
