Thenga Aracha Ayala curry (Indian Mackerel in Coconut Gravy)






Ingredients

  1. Ayala (Indian Mackerel) - 2
  2. Green chilli -3
  3. Curry Leaves
  4. Coconut - 1/4 cup
  5. Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  6. Chilli Powder - 2 tbsp
  7. Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp
  8. Red chilli -1
  9. Pearl Onion -2
  10. Water - 1/cup
  11. Salt - To taste
  12. Kudampuli/Cambodge - 2 pieces
  13. Coconut Oil -  3 tbsp
Method

  1. Clean and cut fish to medium size pieces.
  2. Grind ingredients numbered 4 to 9 to a fine paste.
  3. Heat a manchatti/ pan and add oil.
  4. Saute slit green chilli and curry leaves.
  5. Add grounded coconut mixture and saute for 1 min.
  6. Add cleaned mackerel/ ayala pieces, kudampuli , water and salt.
  7. Cover and cook until fish is cooked.
  8. Once cooked add  1 tsp coconut oil and curry leaves at top.
