Chemmen Chakkakuru Muringakka (Prawns Jackfruitseed Drumstick) Thoran




Ingredients

  • Prawns (chemmeen) - 250 gm
  • Shallots - 3/4 cup (chopped)
  • Drumstick (Muringakka) - 1
  • Jackfruit Seeds (Chakkakuru) - 1/4 cup
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
  • Green chilly - 3
  • Curry leaves - 1-2 spring
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Dried Red Chilly (unakka mulaku) - 2 nos
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 2 tbsp

 To grind (to coarse)

  • Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Pearl onion(kunjulli) - 2 nos
  • Jeera (cumin) - 1 pinch
  • Salt  - 1 pinch
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp




Method
----------
  1. Clean the prawns .
  2. Soak jack fruit seeds in water .Remove the peel and cut into small pieces lengthwise.
  3. Cut drumstick into 2 inch long pieces.
  4. Cook drumsticks, jack fruit seeds and prawns in 1/2 cup water with salt, chilli and turmeric powder, green chilly until done and all the water has evaporated.
  5. Grind ingredients in "To grind".
  6. In a pan add oil.Splutter  mustard seeds followed by red chilli and curry leaves.
  7. Add chopped shallot , green chilly  and saute till it becomes translucent.
  8. Add cooked drumsticks , jack fruit seeds and prawns to this and saute for 2 mins.
  9. Now add grounded coconut mixture and cook for 2 more mins.
  10. Add  1 tsp coconut oil and fresh curry leaves at top
  11. Serve hot with rice.
